The Knowledge of God

Imagine how the knowledge of God unlocks the mysteries of life, the governing Laws of Life.

2 Peter 1:2-3

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God,

and of Jesus our Lord,  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain

unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory  and virtue:

KJV

Jesus is the Knowledge of God

All around the world people have labored to understand and define God. This reveals a basic human need to know the divine and to interact with spirituality. Here we find the root of the many religions around the world and consequently the root of so much anger and division as people try to defend their own needs and convictions. This deep need of the soul grows into a religious fervor whether it is right or wrong and it fuels the divisive hate of religious pride and prejudice.

Once I was helping a man in Ecuador who tried to dominate his wife in every area of life. He was a good man who was following his convictions. He was not just a weak man who needed to bully. None the less she rebelled, and rightly so, giving rise to an explosive division.

I talked with him many times to help him redefine his convictions but it was an uphill walk. It was terribly difficult for him to see beyond his traditions and his deeper seated convictions. He felt somehow that being equal with a woman was causing him to betray his faith. His convictions blinded him to reason. He was a good man who was poorly defined.

For many suffering souls the truth is what they believe even if it is not true. Blinded by misplaced loyalties, it becomes difficult for them to change the way they think. We must reconsider our point of view in many areas or we will suffer the same consequence of ignorant convictions. Our love and happiness does not need to be sacrificed on the altar of ignorance and set on fire by the flames of tradition.

God sent Jesus to properly define, once and for all, who he is, what he wants from us and how we should interact with people.

John 14:6-7

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

KJV

Learning about God is the key to progressing in life, in faith and in godliness. Discovering truth about God, the creator of all life, is the same as discovering truth about ourselves. Seeing God anywhere is like looking into a mirror and seeing a miraculous picture of God’s seed living in us and procreating through us. This happens through His word and yes, even through nature.

It is natural for us to love and to believe because God is our father and that is how He is

Discovering God is discovering us. We are created in His image. We are the offspring of His mind and His character. We have sprung from the very seed of God. That is why it so natural for us to love and to need love; to make commitments and to be profoundly disturbed by betrayal. We are created from and for Truth as seen in Jesus and any lifestyle, no matter how rationalized, that takes us away from this core reality is something that creates conflict and war and eventually death. It is as natural for us to be like him and to produce LIFE as it is for nature to produce all that is around us.

Acts 17:29

We are the offspring of God,

KJV
